Pirate Ship Higemaru

Released by Capcom in September 1984, Pirate Ship Higemaru is a fixed-screen action game featuring comical battles set on the deck of a pirate ship. Players control the protagonist, Momotaru, and defeat pirates by tossing barrels and drums at them. The game offers surprising depth, rewarding high scores for clearing enemies and discovering hidden bonuses and characters. The Higemaru Pirate Corps, led by Captain Higemaru, rampages across the lands, causing trouble for many people. Upon hearing these rumors, a sailor named Momotaru decides to take on the entire pirate corps all by himself. Armed with no weapons, Momotaru skillfully handles the barrels and bags scattered across the deck to fend off the pirates.
