Description

Released by Jaleco in 1986, Argus is a vertically scrolling shoot-'em-up that blends aerial and ground-based combat. The game’s defining feature is its transformation system, which allows players to freely switch between its aerial combat mode and a ground-assault mode, adding a new layer of depth to the gameplay strategy. With its sophisticated 3D-style visuals and fast-paced action, Argus captivated players in arcades of the time and remains a quintessential title of the 1980s.

Story

Argus, the hundred-eyed giant of Greek mythology, has been resurrected in the modern day as "Mega-Argus." Mega-Argus intends to dominate the Earth by repeatedly multiplying itself. Humanity has launched the "Wall-Arg," the only fighter craft capable of opposing it, and entrusted it with the mission of stopping Mega-Argus’s expansion.
