Description

Released by Sunsoft in 1982, Kangaroo is an action game featuring an animal protagonist—a rarity at the time—in which a mother kangaroo embarks on an adventure to rescue her kidnapped joey. Players navigate by moving in four directions, jumping, and punching their way to the top of the stage while dodging apples thrown by encroaching monkeys. Despite its simple controls, the game is packed with the intense, strategic gameplay characteristic of arcade classics, including timing punches and mastering the technique of parrying apples. Its adorable characters and vibrant graphics captivated many players during the dawn of the video game era.

Story

A baby kangaroo has been kidnapped by a troop of monkeys. To rescue her child, the mother kangaroo puts on boxing gloves and steps into the monkeys' territory. Using her formidable punches and leg power, she takes on the monkeys that block her path.
