Description
Released by Namco in 1985, Sky Kid is a side-scrolling shooter set in the peaceful land of Birdland, where aerial heroes Baron and Max take on the dark Mecha-Zukin army. A unique feature of the game is its leftward scrolling, which was rare for the time. Players utilize an eight-way joystick and two buttons to dodge enemy fire with barrel rolls while aiming to destroy the enemy headquarters. Although sustaining damage puts the player at risk of crashing, it is possible to recover by skillfully manipulating the joystick and buttons. Blending delicate controls, which include adjusting the direction of the machine gun, with an endearing world, Sky Kid remains a memorable title in arcade game history.
Story
Set in Birdland, a world of anthropomorphic birds, young pilots Baron and Max stand against the threat of the enemy army known as Mekazukin. The player controls their own aircraft with the objective of bombing targets within each stage and returning safely to base. Triumph in the fierce aerial battles that unfold across various regions and aim to complete every mission.
