Description

Released in March 1981 by Konami (Leijac), Scramble is a legendary masterpiece that pioneered the side-scrolling shooter genre. Using an eight-way joystick and two buttons, players must utilize both air-to-air and air-to-ground weaponry to navigate toward the enemy's base. A notable feature is the energy management system; the tension of having to continually destroy ground-based fuel tanks to replenish your supply is central to the gameplay. The game consists of six stages and follows a looping structure, with a challenging design that causes the rate of energy consumption to increase with each successive loop. Please note that the starry background displayed in this exhibit may differ from the original arcade hardware.
