Description

Released by Namco in 1983, Xevious is a landmark work that set a golden standard in the history of arcade gaming. Working within the hardware limitations of the era, the developers achieved remarkably beautiful graphics by unifying the characters’ color palettes in grayscale and calculating light sources. The project was led by Masanobu Endo, who later went on to create titles such as The Tower of Druaga, and the inclusion of hidden characters like the "Sol" and "Special Flag" captivated countless players. While technical discrepancies—such as differences in the Gidspario explosion patterns in certain console ports compared to the original arcade hardware—have been noted, the game’s historical significance remains undiminished.

Story

The invasion by a mysterious intelligent life form from the distant planet Xevious has begun, bringing humanity to the brink of crisis. Players take control of the Solvalou, a high-performance fighter jet developed in secret, and launch into enemy territory for defense. The battle to destroy the massive ground fortresses and mobile weapons of the Xevian army to restore peace now begins.
