Roc'n Rope

Released in arcades by Konami in March 1983, this game is an action title that follows a quest for the "Bird of Luck" in unexplored lands. Players use a rope gun to string ropes across the field, embarking on an adventure to collect feathers and eggs scattered throughout the stages. Enemies such as crocodiles and lions that stand in your way can be stalled by using a flashlight, adding a strategic element to the gameplay, such as the ability to become invincible for a short time by collecting an egg. While the four-stage structure may feel brief, the high level of polish in its gameplay, presentation, and character design makes this an excellent work that helped define the arcade scene of its time.
