Description

Released in May 1986, *Renegade* (Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun) is a landmark fighting action game that made a major impact with its fast-paced gameplay and diverse attack options. Utilizing an eight-way joystick and three buttons, players unleash punches and kicks across a multi-planar environment. The game is also recognized for introducing throwing techniques and downed-enemy attacks, both of which would later become genre standards. Players were captivated by the challenge of mowing down waves of underlings before facing unique, distinct bosses, all leading up to the intense atmosphere of the final stage: a yakuza office. Featuring a ring-out system, this title stands as an influential pioneer of technology and presentation that ignited a new level of excitement in the arcade scene of its time.

Story

When his best friend Hiroshi transfers to his school and gets kidnapped by a local gang, Kunio, a righteous and tough-as-nails high school student, rises to the occasion to save him. Intent on rescuing his friend, he engages in fierce battles, using only his bare hands and kicks to take down the delinquents who appear one after another.
