Asuka & Asuka

Developed by Visco and released by Taito in 1989, Asuka & Asuka is a vertically scrolling shooting game set in a fantastical world. Players take control of two characters, Asuka and Sayo, who advance through the game by mowing down enemies with swords and projectile weapons. Despite being a shooter, the unique system of characters fighting with swords was a fresh and distinctive feature in the arcade scene of the time. With its charming character design and a well-balanced, challenging difficulty, this title remains a memorable piece of gaming history.

In 1996, Earth was suddenly invaded by the "Galaxy Heiters." The Galaxy Heiters transcend space and time, extending their reach to attack Earth not only in the present, but in the past as well. To counter this threat, humanity developed the "Asuka," a combat aircraft capable of traveling through space and time.
