Description

Released by Irem in November 1989 for arcades, this title is the authentic sequel to the blockbuster hit R-Type. Players take control of the "R-9C" to once again confront the Bydo Empire as it threatens Earth. While inheriting the well-received systems of its predecessor, this six-stage battle introduces new laser weapons and a diffusion wave cannon, offering gameplay with increased strategic depth. One of its distinctive traits is a more sophisticated graphical style compared to the first game, though certain phenomena, such as sample sounds playing at a lower pitch, have been noted.

Story

The Bydo Empire, an evil life form thought to have been eradicated, has amassed new strength in another dimension and launched another attack on humanity. Humanity deploys the "R-9C," an enhanced aircraft designed for anti-Bydo combat, and launches a counter-offensive into the interdimensional space. Equipped with the ultimate weapon, the "Force," the R-9C casts itself into a fierce battle to eliminate the threat of the reborn Bydo Empire.
