X Multiply

Released by Irem in September 1989, X Multiply is an innovative side-scrolling shooter that tasks players with piloting a ship equipped with two tentacles. These tentacles function as both shields against enemy fire and direct melee weapons, making their strategic use the key to conquering the game. While it may hold a more modest profile compared to the company’s extensive lineup of legendary hardcore shooters, this title nonetheless upholds the Irem tradition by presenting a daunting challenge that requires two full loops to clear.

In the year 2249, settlers on the planet Stan began dying one after another under mysterious circumstances. Scientists concluded that the cause was shock induced by a microscopic alien parasite. To resolve the situation, humanity developed the miniaturized fighter "X-002" and sent it into the bodies of the infected humans. Players take control of the X-002, venturing into the uncharted battlefield of the human body to eradicate the aliens.
