Operation Thunderbolt

Released by Taito in December 1988, this action-shooting game is the sequel to the globally successful *Operation Wolf*. Players take on the role of Roy, joining his close friend Hardy in a high-stakes mission to rescue hostages from a hijacked jet. The game features eight intense stages that alternate between front-view and side-view perspectives. Note that, as a characteristic of the original hardware from that era, the in-game play area is displayed slightly shifted to the left relative to the status bar.

A terrorist group has hijacked a plane carrying American passengers, and the hostages have been dispersed and hidden throughout Calビア Airport in Africa. The terrorists have issued an ultimatum: if their prisoners are not released within 24 hours, they will execute the hostages. Faced with this crisis, the CIA has requested the help of Roy Adams, who carried out his mission in the previous game, "Operation Wolf." Along with his former colleague Hardy Jones, Roy throws himself into "Operation Thunderbolt" to save the hostages.
