Description

Released by Taito in March 1988, Continental Circus is a 3D racing game that takes players to Grand Prix circuits across eight countries worldwide. Its most notable feature is the use of liquid crystal shutter glasses—an advanced 3D imaging technology for the time—which provided a phenomenal sense of realism, such as the illusion of debris flying toward the player when their car exploded. The cockpit-style cabinet was designed to replicate the sensation of authentic driving, and the gameplay offers a deep, strategic experience, including managing repairs during pit stops. Please note that the screen flickering is a side effect of the stereoscopic 3D system, though this can be disabled via settings on international versions. The final stage set in Japan heightens the tension of this brutal competition, truly putting the player's skills to the ultimate test.
