Description

Released by Sega-Gremlin in 1981, Space Fury stands as a key title that showcased advanced technological innovation in the arcade gaming world of its time. The game employed groundbreaking, full-color vector-scan technology, with sharply rendered vessels and barrages of enemy fire that drew players into an otherworldly expanse of space. Additionally, the dramatic synthesized speech featured at the start of the game made a powerful impact on players of the era. A monumental work that achieved a sophisticated fusion of technical ambition and entertainment, it remains an essential piece of early 1980s arcade history.

Story

Players control their own ship and challenge a hostile fleet led by a cyclopean alien commander who rules the galaxy. Using synthesized speech, the alien commander relentlessly taunts the player between each round of battle. Players must destroy enemy ships before they complete their construction and launch their attacks, all while upgrading their craft and striving for survival in the vastness of space.
