Chequered Flag

Released by Konami in May 1988, Chequered Flag is a top-down racing game that utilizes hardware-based rotation to achieve smooth, graceful curves on the track. The dedicated large-scale cabinet featured "body sonic" vibration, which, combined with the company’s signature crisp sound design, provided a powerful and immersive racing experience. The game’s most defining feature is the simulation of mechanical trouble caused by collisions with rival cars or driving off-course, forcing players to race against the clock to reach the pits before their vehicle bursts into flames.
