Description

Released by Irem in 1982, Moon Patrol is a side-scrolling action shooter set on the lunar surface. A defining feature of the game is its unique control scheme: jump distance changes based on your running speed, and players maintain precise directional control even while airborne. Mastering these controls is essential for navigating the obstacles and enemy aircraft that appear throughout the course. Additionally, the game’s multi-layered scrolling background—a groundbreaking achievement at the time—further enhances the immersive atmosphere of lunar exploration. Please note that the original maintenance test mode can be accessed by resetting the game while holding the F2 key.

Story

As a police officer of Luna City, you are assigned to patrol Sector 9, home to the galaxy's most dangerous criminals. Piloting your moon buggy, you must advance while using jumps and gunfire to avoid or eliminate obstacles such as craters, landmines, and boulders. Your mission is to break through the onslaught of UFOs and enemy tanks blocking your path and successfully complete your patrol of the lunar surface.
