Rastan

Released by Taito for arcades in 1987, this side-scrolling action game is set in a fantasy world. Players take on the role of a warrior aiming to slay a dragon to fulfill a promise made to the princess of the Kingdom of Ceim, navigating through forests and castle traps along the way. While the control scheme is simple—utilizing an eight-way joystick and two buttons—the adventure is brought to life by a powerful, atmospheric musical score. Players will encounter blue potions to restore health along the journey, but since these provide only minimal recovery, the game demands careful, considered movement throughout its six challenging stages.

Set in the decadent kingdom of Cephtis, this action game follows the adventures of the warrior Rastan, who receives a request from an old sage to defeat the demon king. To confront Gil, the demon king who rules the kingdom, Rastan must break through numerous difficult stages. He must make strategic use of weapons such as swords and axes, engaging in death matches against attacking monsters as he makes his way toward the royal palace where the demon king awaits.
