Wardner

Released by Taito in 1987 and developed by Toaplan, *Pyros* (known in Japan as *Wardner no Mori*) is a side-scrolling action game set in a rich, immersive fantasy world. Players control a hero who commands fire, embarking on a quest to rescue a kidnapped princess by venturing into the forest of the wizard Wardner. One day, a boy and a girl wander into a mysterious world and encounter Werdna, the ruler of the forest. The girl is transformed into a crystal ball by Werdna and carried off deep into the woods. Determined to save her, the boy sets out on an adventure, armed with a magical flame.
