Ikari III - The Rescue (US, Rotary Joystick)

Released by SNK in March 1989 for arcades, *Ikari III: The Rescue* is the third installment in the company’s iconic *Ikari* series. The game features a tense narrative in which two warriors step forward to rescue the kidnapped son of the president-elect, acting on behalf of a government unable to intervene officially. Compared to its two predecessors, this title places a significantly greater emphasis on brawling action. While it retains the signature rotary joystick controls, the game represents an ambitious evolution, shifting to a distinct style of gameplay centered around punching and jumping.

The family of the next president has been kidnapped by a terrorist group. To avoid serious political turmoil, a top-secret rescue mission is planned. Two selected soldiers, Ralf and Clark, infiltrate enemy territory to fight for the rescue of the hostages.
