Description
Released in 1985 for the MSX, *Yie Ar KUNG-FU II: The Emperor Yie-Gah* expands upon its predecessor by shifting from a pure one-on-one fighting game into a side-scrolling action-adventure. Players control Lee Young, the son of the original protagonist, as he battle his way through hordes of ninjas and unique bosses to defeat the usurper Emperor Yie-Gah. The title is noted for its early implementation of diverse enemy attack patterns and for incorporating a two-player mode, which included one of the earliest playable female characters in the genre. This sequel remains a classic example of Konami’s creative approach to home console game design during the golden era of the MSX system.
Story
Following the destruction of the nefarious Chop Suey Gang by the legendary martial artist Lee, a survivor named Li Jen has emerged to proclaim himself Emperor Yie-Gah, once again threatening the world with his dark influence. Lee Young, the son of the original hero, must now embark on a perilous mission to infiltrate the clan’s stronghold to restore peace and recover the stolen Sacred Urn. Faced with waves of deadly assassins, Lee Young relies on the martial arts skills inherited from his father to fight his way to the emperor. His journey is a test of courage and strength as he confronts the remnants of the dreaded clan to bring an end to their tyranny.
