Description

Originally developed by Irem for arcades, *10-Yard Fight* arrived on the MSX platform in 1986 as a faithful adaptation of the pioneering football simulation. This title simplified the complexities of American football into an accessible, fast-paced action game, where players navigate through increasingly difficult tiers of competition—from high school to professional-level teams. Its core appeal lies in a relentless arcade structure that challenges players to secure 10 yards within a strict time limit to reach the end zone. As one of the early attempts to capture the sport on a home computer, this version remains a significant piece of Irem’s library and a notable representative of 1980s sports gaming.

Story

10-Yard Fight is a sports action game based on American football where players control the offense to advance the ball and score touchdowns. Starting against high school teams, players must utilize runs and passes to break through defenses and reach the goal line. As the game progresses, the difficulty increases as you face increasingly skilled opponents from college to the professional and super-team ranks. The primary objective is to repeatedly gain at least 10 yards within the time limit to keep the drive alive and achieve victory.
