Description

Released by Enix in 1988 for the MSX2, *Gandhara* is a pioneering action RPG that uniquely blends a modern, time-traveling science fiction premise with ancient Buddhist mythology. This sprawling adventure centers on a young archaeologist tasked with recovering sacred artifacts to halt a multidimensional rupture engulfing the world. The game distinguishes itself with a complex multi-scenario structure and utilizes advanced FM synthesis, notably supporting the Soundboard 2 for an enhanced auditory experience. As a significant title of its era, *Gandhara* stands as a testament to the ambitious narrative and technical experimentation prevalent in 1980s Japanese home computer gaming.

Story

In the year 2000, reality begins to collapse as mysterious interdimensional rifts tear through the fabric of the world, plunging humanity into chaos. As a young archaeologist, you must embark on a journey that transcends time and space to recover sacred Buddhist relics described in ancient Indian legends. Armed with weapons and items imbued with the compassion of the Buddha, you must face a series of grand trials to restore order and save the world.
