Description

Released in 1988 for the MSX2, *Crimson* is a notable command-based role-playing game developed by XtalSoft and published by Scaptrust. Set in a post-apocalyptic future where humanity’s civilization has long since collapsed, the story follows a young protagonist embarking on a perilous quest to defeat the demon king Crimson and fulfill their father’s legacy. The game is recognized for its immersive fantasy narrative and its technical utilization of MSX2 hardware, including support for enhanced audio features on disk-based releases. As a classic title of the era, it serves as a distinct example of the depth and atmospheric storytelling achieved in late-80s Japanese computer RPGs.

Story

Set in a desolate future where human civilization has long collapsed, the world is now ruthlessly governed by the Demon Lord Crimson and his monstrous legions. After learning of his grim destiny from his dying mother, the protagonist resolves to honor the legacy of his father, a warrior who vanished while attempting to confront the tyrant. Armed only with his father's final wishes and a drive for justice, the hero embarks on a perilous journey to restore peace to the ruins. Along the way, he must traverse mysterious valleys, navigate ancient castles, and gather the strength necessary to challenge the dark reign of Crimson.
