Description

Released for the MSX2 platform in 1989 by Micro Cabin, this version of *Final Fantasy* brought Square’s iconic role-playing adventure to a new audience of personal computer users. It tasks players with guiding four warriors on a quest to restore light to the four elemental crystals and rescue a world on the brink of ruin. While staying true to the core narrative and gameplay of the original, this port features unique aesthetic and technical characteristics specific to the MSX2 hardware. As an early example of a major console RPG moving to the PC market, this title remains a significant piece of Japanese gaming history.

Story

The world stands on the brink of collapse as the light of the four crystals—governing earth, fire, water, and wind—has been lost. According to an ancient legend, four warriors bearing the light arrive in the land of Cornelia to restore peace. Carrying the hopes of the people and the wise who suffer under the grip of monsters, the warriors embark on a vast journey to uncover mysterious truths and reclaim the crystals' radiance. Thus, the story of these four heroes begins as they set out to defy the darkness consuming the world.
