Description

Released in 1988 for the MSX2, *Majin Kyu* is a Japanese-fantasy action RPG that showcases the adventurous spirit of the era’s computer gaming scene. Players control the legendary monk Kobo Daishi as he infiltrates the corrupted Majin-kyu temple to recover eight mystical orbs stolen by the Demon King Gazaar. The game is notable for its thematic blend of exploration and traditional Japanese folklore, requiring strategic use of mystical powers to navigate the perilous dungeon. It stands as a distinctive title from developer Sein Soft, later seeing conversions to the PC-98 and X68000 platforms.

Story

When the Great Demon King Ghazar transforms the sacred Hall of Light into a sinister Demon Palace, he hides the eight legendary jewels that once granted the wishes of the people. As a plague spreads and terror engulfs the land of Japan, the great sorcerer Kobo Daishi rises to confront the chaos. Using his mystical powers to open the temple gates, he ventures into the Demon Palace to search for his missing fellow sorcerers. His arduous journey begins as he seeks to recover the stolen jewels and defeat the slumbering Demon King to restore peace.
