Description

Released by Konami for the MSX2 in 1986, *King Kong 2: Yomigaeru Densetsu* serves as a distinctive tie-in to the film *King Kong Lives*. Departing from the action-oriented tropes of its Famicom counterpart, this MSX2 exclusive adopts an immersive action-RPG format where players control the explorer Hank Mitchell on a quest to locate the legendary Lady Kong on Golnebo Island. The title is noted for its sophisticated use of the MSX2 hardware, featuring an expansive world, strategic real-time combat, and a compelling narrative driven by in-game character interactions. As a significant entry in Konami’s library, the game stands as a unique example of how developers adapted blockbuster cinema into complex, genre-defying experiences during the golden age of 8-bit computing.

Story

After King Kong was presumed dead following his fall from the World Trade Center, he was discovered to be in a decade-long coma under the care of a top medical team at Atlantic University. To save the legendary creature, doctors plan a high-stakes artificial heart transplant that requires an immense amount of compatible blood. Believing the legends of a second ape hidden on the remote Gorunevo Island, the protagonist, Hank Mitchell, sets out on a dangerous expedition. His mission is to locate the elusive "Lady Kong" and bring her back to America to ensure the transplant's success.
