Released by Wolf Team in 1987 for the MSX2, *Yaksa* is a distinct action-RPG that blends historical period drama with dark fantasy elements. Set during the era of Oda Nobunaga, the story follows the warriors Saiku and Iori Kujouin as they defend their clan against the resurrected forces of the demon king. The game is notable for its innovative use of the MSX2's technical capabilities, offering an immersive experience that represents the creative ambition of early Wolf Team titles. Its legacy is preserved through its thematic depth and its place in the history of Japanese computer gaming.

Story

Set during the chaotic Sengoku period, the seal on the "Makousen" is broken by Oda Nobunaga, awakening the ancient deity of destruction known as the Shimashin from a long slumber. The resurrected entity releases the "Makou" trio and hordes of demons upon the earth, seeking to annihilate the Yaksa clan who originally imprisoned him. In response to this existential threat to humanity, two warriors named Saiku and Iori Kujouin rise up to confront the encroaching forces of darkness. Together, they must seal the eighteen scattered Makousen sites to thwart the god's grand ambition and restore order to the land.
