Description

Released in July 1984 for the PC-8801, *Chack’n Pop* is a challenging action-puzzle game developed by Carry Lab and published by Nidecom. Players control the hero, Chack’n, using specialized grenades to bypass obstacles and defeat the "Monsta" enemies that have imprisoned his beloved hearts within an underground labyrinth. This title is historically significant as the spiritual predecessor to Taito's *Bubble Bobble*, featuring iconic characters that would later define the company's legacy. Its unique gameplay, which requires tactical use of smoke-emitting explosions to navigate intricate, single-screen stages, remains a classic example of 8-bit arcade-to-home conversion excellence.

Story

Chack'n and his sweetheart were living in peace until the mysterious Monstas suddenly appeared and stole the hearts that symbolized their love. The intruders locked the hearts away in cages, hiding them deep within a treacherous underground labyrinth teeming with danger. Determined to cheer up his grieving beloved, Chack'n ventures into the maze armed with special bombs that release clouds of smoke and explosive force. He must now navigate the perilous terrain to overcome the Monstas and successfully retrieve the stolen hearts.
