Description

Released by Enix in 1983, Alfos is a monumental shoot-'em-up that pushed the PC-8801 to its limits by achieving smooth vertical scrolling, a feat previously considered impossible on home computers. Genius programmer Kazuo Morita utilized groundbreaking proprietary rendering techniques, such as plane manipulation and palette switching, marking a turning point that established the foundation for future scrolling shooters. The game amazed players with its high-speed action and strategic need to balance anti-air and ground attacks. Developed with official licensing from Namco, Alfos stands as a historically significant title that captures the era's technical ambition and reverence for the arcade experience.

Story

A massive continent suddenly appeared in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, revealing the legendary underground kingdom of Atlantis. After a mysterious message reaching UN headquarters claiming "We are Alfos, and we shall conquer the Earth," humanity decides to launch a preemptive strike. As the pilot of the world's most advanced fighter jet, the Mnemonic, you must take flight against enemy forces to save the planet. Your mission is to repel the advancing threat and uncover the true identity of the mysterious Alfos force.
