Description
Released by Thinking Rabbit in 1986, *Casablanca ni Ai wo -Satsujinsha wa Jikuu wo Koete-* is a distinctive mystery adventure game for the PC-8801 that utilizes a text-input command system. Distinguished by its striking monochromatic visual style, the game evokes the atmosphere of a classic film noir to tell a complex story involving a missing person and a time-travel conspiracy. The narrative follows two reporters who, upon receiving a diary from a vanished friend, become embroiled in a dangerous investigation following the murder of a scientist. Known for its challenging, logic-based gameplay, this title remains a notable example of Japanese narrative-driven software from the 1980s.
Story
Jerry Randolph, a journalist for the Chicago newspaper *Daily Casablanca*, is thrust into a mystery when she receives a cryptic diary from her long-lost childhood friend, May Elgar. The journal reveals that May's father, a scientist researching time travel, was being coerced by the military, and that May herself is now in grave danger. Accompanied by her colleague Roy Stephens, Jerry travels to May's home in Galesburg to investigate. There, they discover the tragic truth behind the professor's death and find themselves entangled in a dangerous conspiracy that spans across time.
