Description

Released by Kogado Studio in 1989, "Schwarzschild II: Betrayal of the Empire" is a profound scenario-driven simulation game set in a fictional universe. It holds historical significance for establishing the "scenario simulation" genre, a style that emphasizes narrative structure alongside the depth of tactical fleet organization and diplomatic negotiation. Building on its predecessor, the game introduced new features such as distinct ship classes and wireframe combat animations that deeply captivated PC-8801 users of the time. It remains a definitive masterpiece of late-80s sci-fi strategy that laid the foundation for an enduring long-running series.

Story

Peace in the Somari star system, located on the fringes of the Schwarzschild Galaxy, is shattered when conflict erupts between nations over rare metal interests. Following the assassination of the King of Oraculum, the young Crown Prince Arcion returns from his studies to succeed the throne. Players step into the shoes of Arcion, tasked with leading the chaotic star system through political strife and military decision-making while confronting a burgeoning new threat to the entire galaxy.
