The military research base "Leipina," which develops weaponry while drifting through space, becomes trapped in the orbit of a mysterious asteroid that emits a powerful, localized magnetic field. Although scientists discover that this magnetic force only affects large structures, initial attempts to destroy the source of the field using conventional weapons fail. In a final act of desperation, the crew activates a prototype weapon called the "THEXDER," a hyper-dual armor unit capable of transforming between robot and jet modes. Carrying the fate of the base, the THEXDER embarks on a solo mission to infiltrate the asteroid and neutralize the magnetic field generator from within.
