Description
Released by Koei in 1990, this title is an authentic historical simulation game set during the Pacific War, where players take on the role of a fleet commander for either Japan or the Allied forces to battle for naval and air supremacy. Beyond commanding realistic fleet engagements on the front lines, the game is characterized by its grand strategic depth, requiring players to manage base defenses and national industrial strength. As the inaugural title in the company's "WWII Game Series," it features a magnificent score by master composer Hiroshi Miyagawa that heightens the intensity of the battlefield. It stands as a monumental work that allows players to spin the threads of a new history through their own critical decisions while feeling the gravity of historical reality.
Story
The game depicts the days of the Pacific War, which began with the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 8, 1941. Players serve as a fleet commander for either Japan or the Allied powers, aiming to secure control of the Pacific by capturing enemy bases. To achieve ultimate victory, one must possess not only the tactical skill to command fierce naval battles but also the long-term perspective to bolster defense systems and national strength. As commander-in-chief, you must constantly monitor the situation, make precise decisions, and rise to challenge history itself to forge a new path.
