Description

Released in 1986 for the PC-8801, *Maison Ikkoku: Omoide no Photograph* is a landmark menu-driven adventure game based on the iconic manga and anime series by Rumiko Takahashi. Players step into the shoes of Yusaku Godai, navigating the chaotic life of Ikkoku-kan boarding house while attempting to uncover a secret photograph hidden by the manager, Kyoko Otonashi. The game captures the series' quintessential blend of romance and slapstick comedy, requiring players to manage limited funds and navigate the eccentric personalities of fellow residents to progress. As one of the earliest digital adaptations of the franchise, this title represents a significant example of 1980s Japanese character-based adventure gaming.

Story

Set in the residence of Ikkoku-kan, players take on the role of Yusaku Godai, a struggling student attempting to navigate his noisy daily life while growing closer to the boarding house manager, Kyoko Otonashi. As Godai, you must maneuver through various challenges in an original story based on the early chapters of the popular manga series. The primary objective is to uncover a mysterious "secret album" that Kyoko is desperately trying to hide. Along the way, players must skillfully manage the moods of the building's eccentric tenants to progress through the game's events.
