Description

Released by Elf in 1989 for the PC-8801, *Run Run Kyosokyoku* is a notable early example of the "bishojo action" genre that blended arcade-style athletics with character-driven rewards. In this title, players assume the role of a manager guiding a team of village girls through a global triathlon competition to save their impoverished home. The gameplay centers on simple action-based racing segments, where victory allows players to unlock graphic rewards featuring the athletes. As an early offering from the prolific developer Elf, this game represents an experimental phase in 1980s PC gaming where sports mechanics were frequently used as a vehicle for character interaction and visual storytelling.

Story

The village of Choihop is so impoverished that its residents cannot even afford a tractor, so they decide to participate in the "World Women's Triathlon" to revitalize their home. They appoint Ichitaro, a lazy but worldly young man, as the team director to lead a group of village girls in this global competition. As the director, the player must select three athletes from a roster of ten and take control of the action as they race through challenging terrains across the world. By outperforming rival athletes in these events, players gain the opportunity to unlock special rewards featuring the local girls from each host location.
