Description

Released by Nihon Computer System in 1987, Elthlead was a pioneering title that introduced a sword-and-sorcery fantasy world to a simulation game genre dominated by military and historical themes. It features a unique two-tiered system where players advance armies in a strategy mode before commanding individual units in a tactical mode, laying the groundwork for the modern simulation RPG genre. By stepping into the shoes of the light mage Siegheart to combat the forces of the dark mage Bozel, players were treated to an epic narrative that perfectly captured the RPG craze of the era. With challenging mechanics—such as the inability to replenish special units—the game remains a historically significant milestone that set the standard for fantasy simulations.

Story

The world descends into chaos as the dark mage Bozel uses malevolent powers to resurrect the dead and devastate the continent of Gaia. Sensing this gathering darkness, Siegheart, King of Elthlead and a master mage of light, determines to lead his armies against the encroaching threat. As Siegheart, the player commands elite knights on a perilous quest to storm Bozel’s fortress and put an end to his reign of terror. The stage is now set for a grand conflict that will decide the fate of light and shadow.
