Description

This landmark tactical simulation, ported to the PC-8801 by SystemSoft in 1987, is based on Steve Jackson’s legendary board game. The game’s greatest appeal lies in the extreme tension created by its asymmetric balance: the player must either command a solitary, overwhelmingly powerful super-tank known as an "Ogre," or lead a vast defensive force to fend it off. The deep strategic requirements for positioning and managing individual units had a profound influence on many digital wargames to follow. Even today, the simple yet intense concept of facing a massive monster with limited forces continues to captivate players.

Story

Set on a near-future battlefield, this simulation depicts the life-or-death struggle between a massive super-tank called the "Ogre" and an array of defensive forces. As the defender, you must utilize diverse weaponry to stop the encroaching Ogre before it reaches your command center. Playing as the Ogre, you leverage raw power and heavy firepower to break through enemy lines and destroy the target. Inherited from the original board game, this concept of overcoming massive power gaps through superior tactics creates a high-stakes, tense experience.
