Description

Released in 1987 by Nippon Computer Systems, Gaia no Monshou is a seminal title that helped shape the early era of fantasy simulation games. It built upon the systems established in its predecessor, Elthlead, while introducing innovative new mechanics such as stage-based progression and a unit-purchasing point system that offered players much greater strategic freedom. The epic conflict between Siegward, the King of Light, and Bozel, the King of Darkness, deeply immersed PC-8801 users in the fantasy continent of Gaia. Featuring a memorable soundtrack by Koji Hayama, this masterpiece serves as a historically significant foundation for the fantasy war game genre.

Story

Set on the fantasy continent of Gaia, where sword and sorcery hold sway, the story follows the clash between Siegward of the Kingdom of Elthlead, who carries the power of the gods of light, and Bozel of the Kingdom of Velzeria, wielder of the powers of darkness. The long-standing balance between these two great nations collapses with the awakening of both kings, igniting a war that engulfs the entire continent. Players take on the role of Siegward, commander of the light forces, in an effort to defeat Bozel's army and restore peace to the ravaged land of Gaia. The stage is set for a fateful confrontation between two kings bound by the ancient grudges of the gods.
