The Return of ISHTAR

This title is an action RPG port of Namco’s arcade classic, The Return of Ishtar, brought to the PC-8801 by S.P.S. As a direct sequel to the hit The Tower of Druaga, players must simultaneously control the knight Gil and the priestess Ki to escape the crumbling tower. The innovative system, which requires Gil to protect Ki with his shield while she uses diverse magic spells to defeat enemies, adds a deep layer of strategy. Successfully recreating the arcade version's vibrant graphics and character progression, this game is a historically significant title that captivated PC gamers in the late 1980s.

After defeating the demon Druaga and rescuing his beloved priestess Ki, the hero Gilgamesh finds his adventure is far from over. With its master gone, the tower's magic has gone haywire, causing the colossal Tower of Druaga to collapse from within. Gilgamesh must use his sword and shield to protect Ki while she wields powerful offensive magic to clear their path. Together, they embark on a desperate escape, fighting through remnants of frenzied monsters as they descend from the top floor toward the exit at the base of the tower.
