Description

Released in 1988 for the PC-8801, *Starship Rendezvous* is a notable example of the "bishoujo" action genre that flourished in the late 1980s Japanese software market. Developed by Arklight, the game challenges players to navigate an enigmatic, abandoned spacecraft, blending top-down action sequences with interactive "special stages" that feature branching narrative responses. Beyond its gameplay, the title is historically significant for its early, critically acclaimed musical score, composed by industry icons Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata. It remains a fascinating artifact of the era, showcasing the creative ambition of independent developers who used limited hardware to push the boundaries of home computer interactive entertainment.

Story

After humanity develops warp navigation, mysterious "Space Holes" (SH) emerge in deep space, causing all vessels that approach them to vanish without a trace. Years later, a strange, unidentified starship appears near one of these zones, and the protagonist bravely embarks on a solo mission to board it. Upon entering the vessel, he discovers it is crewed entirely by women and a patrolling robot guard. The player must navigate the ship, use specialized equipment to capture the female crew members, and uncover the dark secrets hidden within the vessel.
