Description

Released by Ponica in November 1986 for the PC-8801, Super Pitfall is a non-linear action-adventure title derived from the Famicom version of the classic Pitfall series. Players control the explorer Harry as he navigates a treacherous, maze-like subterranean kingdom to recover the Raj diamond and rescue his kidnapped niece and pet cat. The game challenges players with expansive exploration, hidden items, and high-difficulty platforming mechanics that define its unique period of Japanese game design. As an early example of cross-platform development between consoles and personal computers, it remains a notable entry in the evolution of the Pitfall franchise.

Story

The adventurer Harry sets out on an expedition to discover the fabled "Large Diamond" hidden deep within a mysterious underground kingdom. However, his quest takes a perilous turn when his niece, Rhonda, and his beloved cat, Quickclaw, are abducted by subterranean inhabitants. Harry must now navigate the treacherous, maze-like caverns to rescue his companions. As he presses deep into the underground world, he continues his search for the legendary treasure while overcoming traps and local creatures to secure their safety.
