Description

Released by Enix in 1985 for the PC-8801, this port of Namco’s legendary arcade title brought the revolutionary vertical-scrolling shooter experience to home computers in stunning detail. Players pilot the Solvalou fighter to defend Earth from the forces of the super-intelligence Gamp, engaging both aerial enemies with the "Zapper" cannon and ground-based targets with the "Blaster" bomb. Distinguished by its sophisticated enemy designs and the inclusion of hidden secrets, the game set a new standard for depth and technical achievement in the genre. Its immersive science-fiction narrative, developed in parallel with its unique gameplay mechanics, helped elevate the cultural and artistic perception of video games during the early 1980s.

Story

In the year 2009, Earth faces an existential threat from the Xevious army, a formidable force led by the super-intelligent entity known as Gamp. As the invaders move to occupy South America, humanity finds itself overwhelmed and without a viable defense. Salvation arrives in the form of Mu, a descendant of an ancient race that once departed Earth, and his android companion, Eve, who together possess the knowledge to counter the invasion. Equipped with the advanced "Solvalou" starfighter developed through their guidance, players must embark on a desperate mission to strike at the heart of the Xevious strongholds and prevent the complete subjugation of the planet.
