Description

Released by Sein-Soft in 1985, *Toritorn* stands as an early and pioneering effort in the action role-playing genre for the PC-8801 platform. Set on the conquered island of Rwanda, the game tasks players with controlling the warrior Tritorn to defeat the demon lord Pay Valusa and restore peace by securing the legendary "Five-Colored Magic Potions." Unlike many contemporary titles that relied on "bump" combat, this game introduced an active sword-swinging mechanic and a magic system that rewards players with new abilities as they gain experience. Through its combination of side-scrolling exploration, technical combat, and puzzle-solving elements, *Toritorn* remains a significant milestone in the evolution of Japanese computer RPG design.

Story

The peaceful island of Rwanda was suddenly invaded by the malevolent demon Pei Barusa and his minions, who conquered the land and imprisoned its people deep underground. A lone hero named Toritorn hears the legend that peace can be restored if the fabled "Five-Colored Potions" are recovered. Inspired by this hope, he sets out on a perilous journey across the island. Players must guide Toritorn through dangerous locales, battling various monsters and developing his strength to eventually confront and defeat the tyrannical Pei Barusa.
