Description

Released by Enix in 1984, Neutron is a static-screen action game set on a magnificent tree, created by Koichi Nakamura of Door Door fame. Players must time the harvesting of fruit as it grows from buds, a unique mechanic that set it apart from other action games of the era while navigating the diverse attacks of various foes. With its ever-changing roster of enemies and refined BEEP-synth soundtrack, the game stands as a pioneering example of pushing the technical boundaries of the PC-8801. It is a valuable piece of gaming history that showcases the challenging nature of early PC action titles, requiring precise, diagonal-inclusive movement.

Story

Welcome to the bright and idyllic village of Newton, where a massive, sun-drenched tree towers over its center. You play as Ron, a village resident whose job is to harvest the delicious fruit that grows upon this great tree. However, a variety of insects and enemies appear to get in your way, blocking your path to the harvest. You must guide Ron through the branches, avoiding or eliminating enemies to collect the fruit before it falls to the ground.
