Description

Released by Artdink in 1987, How Many Robots is a creative puzzle-simulation game where you remotely control a robot in a mirror world to defuse time bombs. Its standout feature is an early AI-inspired mechanic where the robot "learns" the player's movements, allowing it to navigate autonomously through "dark areas" where controls are disabled. Combining strategic light-and-shadow puzzles with the trial-and-error process of training your robot, the game showcases the challenging and innovative design for which Artdink is known. It was released for major PC platforms of the era, such as the PC-9801 and PC-8801, leaving a unique mark on the history of game design.

Story

One day, the protagonist receives a message along with a mysterious robot. Upon discovering a mirror in the room, the robot is pulled into a bizarre "Mirror World." As the player, you must remotely guide the robot through this strange dimension, navigating light and shadow to transport time bombs to disposal units before they detonate. You must teach the robot how to move correctly to successfully complete your high-stakes mission.
