Description

Released in March 1984 by SystemSoft for the PC-8801, *Miko to Akemi no Jungle Adventure* is a landmark title notable for being one of the first Japanese adventure games to implement a command-selection interface. The story follows two girls who must survive and escape after their plane crash-lands in the African wilderness, challenging players to navigate the perilous environment using a systematic menu of verbs and nouns. The game is historically significant for its early use of "instant screen display" technology, which allowed for rapid graphical updates compared to the slow line-by-line drawing methods common at the time. Despite its approachable, charming aesthetic, the game is famously known for its high difficulty, strict survival mechanics, and a pioneering point-based score system.

Story

Miko and Akemi have embarked on their long-awaited trip to Africa, but their journey takes a harrowing turn when their plane crashes just before reaching its destination. Finding themselves stranded in the middle of a vast savanna with no sign of the aircraft or other passengers, the two women are completely lost and overwhelmed by the wilderness. As the player, you must guide Miko and Akemi through this life-threatening situation by providing instructions to ensure their survival and safe rescue.
