Freelance writer Akira Kamishiro is summoned to the Kunisaki Peninsula in Oita Prefecture by his former professor, Masunaga, to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a local monk. As they unravel the case, they discover that the "Sealed Sutra" and the "Opened Sutra"—two ancient texts used by the monk Kūkai to imprison demons—have vanished, causing the gates to the netherworld to swing open. Chosen by Fudo Myoo, the pair must master mystical incantations and sacred artifacts to face the resurrected horrors in a perilous quest to re-seal the demonic path.
