Excelion

Released by Sega in March 1984 for the SG-1000, *Exerion* is a home console port of the 1983 arcade title originally developed by Jaleco. This fixed-screen shooter is notable for its unique pseudo-3D scrolling background and a control scheme where the player's movement is affected by inertia. Players must strategically manage two types of weaponry: a reliable but single-shot dual beam and a powerful, rapid-fire weapon with limited ammunition that is replenished by defeating enemies. Serving as an example of Sega’s arcade-to-home library during the early 1980s, the game challenges players to navigate through six stages of space combat.
